Day 6 – Thursday

She’s back.

So for the last post in this series, I’m not going to waste your time and tell you what I did and didn’t do today, because no one really cares. And if you really wanted to know, you could just look at any other post from this series and have your answer.

Instead, I’m going to tell you about the overall differences between yesterday and tomorrow:

  • Garbage Generation: +50%, I only put out 1 bag while she was away, usually it’s 2
  • Water Usage: +50%, More dishwasher, more laundry, more showering…
  • Electricity Usage: +80%, Alone, only one light is on, not alone, all lights and appliances are on
  • Stress Levels: +300%, No need to describe this one, although I probably create most of it
  • Food Quality: +900%, I’m not nearly as good at this as she is
  • Efficiency: -40%, I can’t seem to ever get things (that I want) done when she’s around
  • Air Quality: -50%, Use your imagination on this one

Strangely though, I don’t think I could survive another day without her here, even with all the above! I’m also sure that if she wrote her own “Bachelorette” series, she would have a lot more things to complain about than I could ever think up!

Thanks for tuning in.

Bachelor Challenge: Day 5 of 6

Day 5 – Wednesday

Summary: Alright, so I had a bit of a late start today. I think the massive amounts of caffeine kept me up most of the night. However, a shitty night was welcomed with good news in the morning. The wedding invitation map size and orientation was alright – or at least so says the big boss. Speaking of which, she is finally coming back tomorrow. I made sure to bring myself back the dysfunctional person she knows me to be. I worked a bit of overtime today, but apart from that, I did nothing. I also think I feel a cold coming on.

Accomplishments: Left home late this morning, still made it to work on time.

Breakfast/Lunch: Free bagel in the morning. Subway for lunch.

Dinner: Two bowls of cereal. Reminds me of the old days.

Communication with… what’s her name again?: One email, and one text message. Though it was so early in the morning that it didn’t count. Especially since I initiated it.

Day 4 – Tuesday

Summary: Today was a bit of a shit show. Was very tired this morning when I got to work. I must have had about 6 or 7 cups of coffee before lunch and I probably went to the washroom as many times. I was a bit shaky from all the caffeine which made it hard to sit at my desk. Made it through the motions and finally got home. Food was a no-brainer since I had left-over Spaghetti from the night before. Shortly after eating I found myself passed-out on the floor in front of the TV – yes that tired. After my nap I worked on the wedding invitation maps – FUN.

Accomplishments: Finished map, however realized that I may have made it the wrong size.

Breakfast/Lunch: Yogurt, Tuna Sandwich, Apples, Granola Bar (notice a pattern?)

Dinner: Leftover Spaghetti

Communication with neglectful half: Text messages, and an “I’m going to bed” email

Day 3 – Monday

Summary: I woke up ridiculously early. I had troubles falling asleep (I swear it had nothing to do with me sleeping ’till noon on Sunday), so needless to say, I was feeling a little tired today. I had decided that I was going to take the bus to work to avoid getting my car stuck in the snow. As I was walking to the bus stop, I noticed that the alley way behind my house seemed drivable (which is where I would get stuck). So I ran back to the house, grabbed my car keys, and gave it a shot.

I almost got stuck – 3 meters from my garage. If I hadn’t learned my lesson from the last time I got stuck, I would have never made it out this morning. All I have to say is: Second Gear!

Work was busy, lots of coffee. It was Monday what do you expect. After work I decided I would make myself a real dinner instead of eating more tuna. Sandwiches that is. So, spaghetti was the winner. I basically sat on my ass the rest of the night after that.

Accomplishments: Got to work early, dishwasher unloading/loading, computer tending, making lunch for work, and ironing cloths for work

Breakfast/Lunch: Yogurt, Tuna Sandwich, Apples, Granola Bar

Dinner: Spaghetti

Communication with better half: Email, and finally broke down and begged for a phone call (which, surprisingly, I got!!)

Bachelor Challenge: Days 1 & 2 of 6

Sunday, March 22nd, 2009

So basically, I was ditched for a week by my better half. I thought it would be entertaining to log what I do over the time that she is gone.

Day 1 – Saturday

Summary: I woke up early today since I had to go to my haircut appointment. After my fantastic monthly “head massage” at the hairdresser’s, I went to run a couple of errands that I had been meaning to do for a while now. I felt good about myself, like I actually accomplished something, then went home, to where an empty house awaited.

Accomplishments: Haircut, car parts ordered, wipers replaced, and minor updates to the website

Breakfast/Lunch: Cereal – Raisin Bran, Yogurt, Granola Bar

Dinner: Cabage Rolls from Sobey’s, Salsa + Dip, Granola Bar and possibly another Yogurt

Communication with better half: Text messages, email

Day 2 – Sunday

Summary: I woke up at 8am with a massive headache, which I attribute to having low blood sugar. Took an Advil and a glass of juice then went back to bed. Finally woke up again at 12 noon – feeling rested and relaxed. I shoveled the 3 tons of snow that fell over night, and then I basically did the bare minimum to keep myself alive the rest of the day.

Accomplishments: Snow shoveling, laundry, dishwasher unloading/loading, computer tending, showering, ironing cloths for work, and making lunch for work

Breakfast/Lunch: Cereal, Yogurt, Latte

Dinner: Tuna sandwich, Yogurt, Granola Bar, Chai Latte

Communication with better half: Text messages, email, still no phone call
